Shakespeare: Antony and Cleopatra

Details

A little divergence from Plutarch into Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra.
This play was written at the height of Shakespeare's carrier, featuring his most soaring poetic idiom.

The play explores the intense and politically charged relationship between Antony and Cleopatra as it unfolds across two worlds: Rome, representing duty, order, and empire, and Egypt, representing passion, pleasure, and personal loyalty.
Antony struggles between his responsibilities to Rome—especially as part of the ruling Triumvirate with Octavius Caesar (later Augustus) and Lepidus—and his deep love for Cleopatra. Their love ultimately leads to betrayal, war, and tragic downfall, making it one of Shakespeare’s most powerful explorations of love and power.

Please come ready having to read the play. Any version will do.
