Henri Bergson: Matter and Memory (week 1)
Details
Join us for weekly discussions of French philosopher Henri Bergson's 1896 book on action-oriented perception, multiplicities of memory-images, and the virtual existence of the past.
Required reading for this meeting: Introduction (pg. 9–16) and Ch. I "Of the Selection of Images" up to page 43.
Most of us will be reading the Zone Books edition. We plan to meet weekly and work our way through the whole book about 30 pages at a time.
We'll be meeting at Art Cafe + Bar in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
This event is free but we're all still socially obligated to purchase something, and Art Cafe is a cool place that we should support! They have a bar and they serve coffee and tea among other non-alcoholic drinks, as well as food.
