It all begins in Egypt, more specifically, Alexandria, that extraordinary crossroads where civilizations, religions, and wisdom traditions met and mingled. A city suspended between worlds, where ancient mysteries encountered new ideas and where seekers from across the Mediterranean gathered in pursuit of knowledge.

As Egypt’s political power faded in the centuries surrounding the beginning of the Common Era, the old priesthood found itself at a threshold. Teachings that had long been preserved within temples, symbols, and initiatory traditions began to emerge into the wider world and explored by wider cultures.

This lecture follows the subtle thread that connects ancient Egyptian wisdom traditions, the philosophy of Plato, and the insights of the early Christian mystics. At its heart lies a vision of spiritual transformation: the belief that the divine is not merely something to be worshipped from afar, but something to be discovered within.

Hermetic and all forms of Platonic teachings offered a deeply introspective and experiential path—one that emphasized direct knowledge, inner awakening, and the cultivation of the soul. Over time, many of these currents were overshadowed or completely suppressed as religious orthodoxy consolidated its authority, yet their influence never entirely disappeared. Instead, they continued to flow beneath the surface of history, reappearing whenever individuals began to question inherited certainties and seek a more personal encounter with the sacred.

As we navigate our own period of cultural and spiritual transition today, these Hermetic and mystical ideas speak with renewed relevance. They invite us to explore timeless questions of meaning, consciousness, and human potential, offering a language for the deep inner search that so many are quietly undertaking in our time.
