The Yellow Wallpaper - Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Details

For this week we'll read Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story, "The Yellow Wallpaper". It's not a lot of reading at all for a month, so I encourage you to read as much as you can from her non-fiction text, Women and Economics, so we can have a more in-depth insight of her argument of gendered practices, women's position of economic dependence and as the "other" - all themes of TYW and expounded on in Women and Economics. The whole book won't be required reading for the meeting as I don't want to impose on your schedules, but do as you can with your own time. I hope cross-referencing the fiction and non-fiction texts will lead to an insightful discussion!
