The Readary Meeting-August 2026

Hello All,

The book we will read for August and review together is

'The Henna Artist'
by Alka Joshi

Set in the 1950s Jaipur in India, the book tells the story of Lakshmi - a talented Henna artist. 17 years after escaping an arranged marriage, Lakshmi has carefully built a new life as the city’s most sought-after henna artist, moving between royal households and wealthy families. But beneath the beauty of her intricate designs lie stories of ambition, independence, and the delicate choices women make to shape their own destinies.
When her past unexpectedly returns, the life she has created begins to unravel.
A captivating story of resilience, sisterhood, tradition, and the courage to rewrite your own story.

Looking forward to reviewing this book with all of you.

Happy Reading!
