March 2017 Tech Meetup at Reaktor Helsinki (Clojure)

Details

Welcome to our second Reaktor Tech Meetup of 2017. This time we'll take a look at practical Clojure, after which there's a possibility to network and continue discussions in a more informal manner. Our topics will be:

Esko Lahti: Developing Web Applications With Reagent/re-frame

Reagent is a minimalistic ClojureScript interface to React. Re-frame offers a state container framework to be used with reagent.

In this talk we are going to discuss the basics of building a Reagent/re-frame web application. We'll also review a real-world case of developing a large reagent/re-frame application.

Markus Hjort: Clojure Backend Services from the Trenches

In this talk I will share what I have learned in past five years on implementing and maintaining Clojure backend services.

Jarkko Rantamäki: Hacking Go on Raspberry Pi

Juho Teperi: Using JS components vs. Writing Reagent components

JavaScript and React ecosystems provide huge amount of ready-for-use UI components. How easy it is to use these from ClojureScript? Is it worth re-implementing these in Cljs + Reagent, what are the trade-offs?

This talk demonstrates both how to use existing JS libraries (through Cljsjs) and the Reagent components we have written and use extensively in our projects. As subplot, our clj-suomi library is used to provide example data.

Agenda:

17:00 doors open

17:30 talks start

21:00 official part over, unofficial discussions free to continue at local bars

As always, space is at premium, so please change your RSVP to "No" if you find out you can't make it to the event.

Do keep posted for more information - and, of course, a big welcome from us!
