About us

Calling all culture lovers! This group will meet two to three times per month to enjoy fine arts events in Salt Lake City. Think classical music, opera, theater, ballet, modern dance, art museums, gallery strolls, films, etc. We'll experience both performing and visual arts from the major professional companies/institutions as well as from smaller emerging artists and groups.

For a small city, Salt Lake City has a vibrant and diverse arts scene. Let's get out and enjoy it, and make new friends along the way. Join us!

    Utah Symphony: Orff's 'Carmina Burana'

    Utah Symphony: Orff's 'Carmina Burana'

Abravanel Hall, 123 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, US

Our own Utah Symphony plays "Carmina Burana" by the early 20th century German composer Carl Orff. This is Orff's best-known work, featuring the iconic cantata "O Fortuna." Utah Symphony's website praises Carmina Burana's "massive orchestral forces and exhilarating chorus.... this cantata celebrates the wheel of fortune in all its glorious ups and downs.... it's going to blow you away."
Also on the evening's program: Claude Debussy’s "Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune" and Iman Habibi's "Zhian."
You can read more about the program here.

The performance starts at 7:30 pm. We will reserve seats together in the orchestra section - tickets are $64 ($59 + $5 service fee). If we have a minimum of 10 people in our group, we can avail ourselves of the 20% group discount and waiver of the service fee - so tickets would be $48 each.

So that we can sit together as a group, I will collect money in advance from each attendee (via Venmo, PayPal or other arrangement). **Please only RSVP for this event if you're certain you can attend and are ready to send payment for your ticket purchase!** I will contact the group to arrange the payments.

Please also note that good seats for these performances tend to sell early, especially for a group of seats together, so I plan to buy the group’s tickets around March 28. Please RSVP no later than Friday, March 27 (earlier is better!).

We can also gather for optional pre-performance drinks & tapas at 5:15 pm nearby Mar Muntanya, an upscale restaurant on the rooftop of the Hyatt Regency hotel (170 S. West Temple) featuring cuisine of northern Spain.

If you're not joining us for food/drink before the symphony, please meet the group at 7:10 pm in front of the main entrance to Abravanel Hall.

Hope you can join us for this fun and elegant evening!

Lunch & Exhibit At Kimball Art Center (Park City)

Lunch & Exhibit At Kimball Art Center (Park City)

Kimball Art Center, 1251 Kearns Blvd, Park City, UT, US

Let's catch the final day of the "Returning to Wonder" exhibit at the Kimball Art Center. Founded in 1976, Kimball Art Center is one of the longest-running arts organizations in the Wasatch Back region.

This exhibit features works by 10 different artists. Synopsis from Kimball Art Center's website:
"Returning to Wonder brings together artists driven by an intense curiosity about... natural phenomena and our relationship to the more-than-human world. Blending scientific inquiry with poetic imagination, their works act as portals into the spectacular dimensions of our environment. Drawing from diverse fields—including astronomy, geology, mathematics, and ecology—each artist translates complex ideas, such as the enormity of time and space, into forms we can begin to feel, contemplate, and carry with us."

We can first have lunch or brunch at 11:30 Windy Ridge Cafe (1250 Iron Horse Drive). We'll then stroll over to nearby Kimball Art Center and enjoy the exhibit at our leisure.

If you are coming from the Salt Lake area, we will meet for carpooling at the parking lot of Smith's Marketplace at 3215 S. Valley Street, near the mouth of Parley's Canyon. Park and look for the group near the McDonald's in the southwest corner of the parking lot.

If you're coming from the Summit County area, please drop me a note to let me know you'll meet us at Windy Ridge Cafe.
