Abstract:
R is an open source programming language used primarily for statistical analysis and data visualization. It is being increasingly used by statisticians, economists, and engineers at Google. Learn how R has been integrated with common google data storage technologies such as Dremel, Bigtable, and ColumnIO and some examples of how it is used for statistical modeling, forecasting, clustering, and other statistical computations on Google data. We'll also discuss the approaches that we're taking at Google to work with large-scale data and computations in R.
Bio:
Karl Millar is responsible for Google's internal statistical computing and R infrastructure and works to ensure that the large number of analysts who work at Google have the tools they need to work productively. He is particularly interested in data analysis of very large datasets. Prior to working at Google, he had roles doing data mining and statistical analysis at a number of tech companies.
