LA East R Users: Data Viz from Start to Finish and Bayesian Modeling with R2jags

Details
Talk 1: Data Visualization from Start to Finish
Speaker: Zev Youra (software developer)
A polished data visualization is the end result of a long, iterative process. In this talk, I'll walk through the entire process from initial concept to final result. Along the way, I'll touch on idea generation, data gathering, cleaning, and analysis, as well as some practical tips for communicating clearly with data.
Talk 2: Bayesian Modeling with R2jags
Speaker: Zhi Yang (Ph.D. student in Biostatistics at USC)
Just Another Gibbs Sampler (JAGS) is a program for analysis of Bayesian hierarchical models using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation. R2jags is an R package that allows us to implement Bayesian analysis by using JAGS in R. In this talk, I'll give a gentle introduction on how to fit a simple Bayesian model, visualize and summarize the output using R2jags.
