Hi Fellow Real Estate Investor!!

It's 2020! It's time to get down to business! I know you have probably already sat down and have written down your goals for the year. I wanted to take a minute of your time today and give you a few tips on goals and how to follow them thru so 2020 will be the best year of your life!

My 4 basic rules on goal setting:

1. They must be written
2. They must have a deadline
3. Break them up into small pieces
4. They must be realistic

When setting your goals make sure to write them down on a piece of paper. I prefer a 3 x 5 note card. This way you can fold in in half and stick it in your front pocket. You should be looking at your goals daily. Another idea I have is to tape your goals to your bathroom mirror or above the light switch in your bedroom. This allows you to see them everyday, first thing in the morning.

You must have a deadline for each goal to create a sense of urgency and to help put them into action. Get up each day, look at your goals, and take action on pushing the goals further to the deadline.

Break up your goals into small pieces. For example, maybe you want to make $50,000 per year in passive income. Let's say you want to do that will rental properties and you know you make $350 per month for each duplex you own. Well that means you need 12 duplexes $350 x12=$4200 x 12 months = $50,400). So you know you will need to buy 1 duplex per month. You can't wait until December to start working on that goal! And initially, $50,000 per year looked overwhelming but, once you break it down it seems very achievable!

Your goals must be realistic! If you are trying to lose 25 pounds (like me!) then you need to set a realistic timeline to do that. I'm not going to lose 25 pounds in a week. However, I can set the goal to lose 1 pound a week. That's realistic. Again, small pieces that are realistic with a deadline.

One last bit of advice. Find a group you can be part of. Like minded people that want you to succeed. Those people will help keep you motivated and keep you accountable. It's a brutal world out there. People are cruel. When I got started doing real estate I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that said I would never make it. So many people wanted me to fail. It was crazy. I really don't understand why.

People want you to get by, but they don't want you to get by them I guess.

Bottom line is this: If you choose to not be denied in life then you won't be. Get up each day with a chip on your shoulder. Show the world who is boss. Kick butt and take names!
