Something a little different this month.
I recently took over a rucking group down in Miami called Miles & Meaning that meets monthly on Sunday mornings at Oleta River State Park — and I think it's a perfect fit for a lot of the guys in this group (especially those of you who enjoyed our Coffee and Conversation event). It was a natural extension of everything we're already building here, and I'm excited to bring it to your attention.
It's about a 45-minute drive from Fort Lauderdale, but trust me — it's worth it. And if you're in the Fort Lauderdale area and don't want to make the drive solo, I'm happy to carpool. Reach out and we'll figure out a meetup spot.
Here's the idea: we load up a backpack, we walk 3 miles through one of South Florida's most beautiful urban parks, and we talk — really talk. Three guided questions per ruck, designed to spark the kind of honest conversation most of us never make time for. There are also quiet stretches for reflection. No ego, no small talk, no fluff. Just good men moving with purpose.
We're starting at 3 miles and working our way up to 5 as the group grows and gets comfortable together.
What to bring:
- Backpack with 10–30 lbs of weight — optional but encouraged
- Water bottle
- Comfortable shoes that can get dirty
- Insect repellent
- An open mind
A few logistics:
The park opens at 8:00 AM and can reach capacity on weekends — arrive early and consider calling the ranger station ahead of time. Once inside, follow the road past the kayaks and the Oleta River Grill — the parking lot just past the restaurant is where we meet.
Park entry fees:
- $6/vehicle (up to 8 passengers)
- $4 for single-occupant vehicles
- $2 for pedestrians/cyclists
We head out promptly at 8:15.
