02/10 – EROS READING CIRCLE: POWER AND SURRENDER BEYOND STEREOTYPES
Details
Welcome to the October Eros Reading Circle! Eros Reading Circle is a space where we come together to explore desire, intimacy, pleasure and relationships through reading, reflection and honest conversation.
This month, we will explore selected chapters from Different Loving: The World of $exual Dominance & Submission by Gloria G. Brame, William D. Brame and Jon Jacobs.
The book takes us beyond familiar stereotypes through candid interviews and stories from people navigating alternative expressions of love and intimacy.
What we’ll explore:
-How has social conditioning shaped what we consider “normal” and “taboo” in relationships?
-Can surrendering control to another person be an act of liberation rather than passivity?
-Where is the line between being submissive and being subservient?
-Who is actually in control within a consensual power dynamic?
-How do people explore intense fantasies while protecting emotional and physical safety?
-Whether you already have experience with dominance and submission or are simply curious about it, the reading offers both an introduction to this world and detailed personal stories from within it.
We’ll begin with tea or cacao and a short grounding practice. This will be followed by a sharing circle around the reading and our personal reflections.
From there, we’ll move into an open conversation about dominance and submission, power exchange, trust, boundaries, consent and the different meanings that power and surrender can hold in intimate relationships.
You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels right for you. At the beginning of the gathering, we’ll establish agreements around respect, confidentiality and non-judgment.
The selected reading will be sent to registered participants by email a few days before the circle.
If you would like to start reading earlier, you can contact Adri at healing@adriennhodi.com after registering.
Adults of all genders are welcome, whether single or in a relationship.
