Our Outdoor First Aid courses are suitable for any outdoor enthusiast. Hill walkers, climbers, cyclists, wild campers, our course content is aimed at you.
This comprehensive two day, level 3 qualification fully meets the requirements of the HSE and is regulated by Ofqual. It will enable all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. The course is specifically tailored to equip participants to handle scenarios where additional emergency help may be some hours away. The course is delivered over a period of 16 hours, spread over two days. The course meets the First Aid requirements of the expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
A maximum of twelve students can attend the course and the minimum age for attendance is 16.
The qualification meets the requirements of the Institute for Outdoor Learning Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid Training.
The qualification is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of achievement.
Course content
A wide range of outdoor related subjects are covered including but not limited to:
Outdoor First Aid Kit - What you should have in your bag/box.
Prioritising treatment - assessment of the situation
Unresponsive casualty,
Bony injuries - fractures,
Burns and scalds,
Head, chest and spinal injuries,
Hypo/Hyperthermia, frostbite,
Diabetes, Asthma, Epilepsy, Shock, Anaphylaxis, Choking
Minor injuries, bites and stings, poisoning
Heart Attack and Angina
Control of Bleeding
Sprains and strains.
Eye injuries
Catastrophic bleeds
