The Pros and Cons of Access to Digital Intimacy: Instant, free, and readily available access to digital intimacy materials that were once hard to come by has redefined the expectations, understanding, and social/moral norms around intimacy in real life. For the past several decades, a common drumbeat has been that a more open and freer consumption of these materials leads to a more empowered, educated and less shame filled society. In the past few years, however, a growing backlash has arisen that posits that normalized access to these materials have had negative psychological, social and physical impacts. Is normalized, regular consumption of these materials a positive thing for society? Why or why not? What are the pros and cons?
