Biology and Behavior: Modern biology is increasingly painting a picture of the human being as a biological machine, where everything from our deepest identity to our moral choices is authored by a complicated mix of genetics, prenatal environment, and brain chemistry. If science proves that there is no "ghost in the machine", how does that change how you define who you are and how you see others? Does this evolving understanding lead to a more compassionate world where we view everyone as a product of their biological luck, or does it strip away the dignity and agency that makes life feel meaningful?
