Pack your bags and get ready to visit the decaying halls of High Place. This month, we are diving deep into the eerie, atmospheric world of Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

Imagine Rebecca or Crimson Peak, but set in 1950s Mexico and dripping with style.
Our heroine, Noemí Taboada, is a glamorous, sharp-tongued socialite who loves high fashion and anthropology. When she receives a frantic, unhinged letter from her newlywed cousin claiming her new husband is trying to poison her, Noemí heads to High Place—an isolated, decaying mansion in the mountains.

What does she find? A creepy English family obsessed with racial "purity," a house that literally breathes, walls covered in weird mold, and a dark family secret that is way more biological than supernatural.
