What does it mean to be "educated"? For generations, the standard answer was tied to formal milestones and degrees, but the value of these credentials has shifted. A high school diploma, which once secured a stable career, is now viewed as a baseline, while a master's degree often carries the same professional weight a bachelor's degree did twenty years ago. This rapid credential inflation raises a fundamental question: Is true education defined by the certificates accumulated and the facts memorized, or is it something less easily quantified like the capacity for critical thinking, adaptability, and intellectual humility? What do we mean when we say someone is educated?
