## Details
NEW Venue. There may be updates to details, etc. Please check back for new info. Bell Park is near Saluda, NC. It's on the Spartanburg Highway (176), just south of the bridge over the Green River Gorge. 4360 Spartanburg Hwy.
Meet at 10 AM. Approaching the park from Flat Rock, as soon as you cross the Green River Bridge, enter the parking lot on the right.
About 15 vehicles can park in that parking lot. The Park's entrance is across the street, toward the right, about 100’ away. Four vehicles can park there in front of the Park. There are no bathrooms at this facility.
Jim and Mel are the guest guides. This is a recently developed, moderately challenging trail. It's a popular trail for hiking and walking, You can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of the day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
There are two loops. Together, they're about 2 miles. The optional smaller loop (a half mile) is halfway through the hike. Good news that trails are mostly shady. It takes about an hour to complete both loops. There's a staircase section (45 steps) at the beginning and end of the hike. The elevation gain is 272 ft (moderately constant for ½ of the loop). This event may not be for beginners, or people with health/balance issues. At the end to go to the observation deck with the waterfall and the stream is very pleasant. Option visit to Saluda would be an option.
It'll be hot, so bring water. Stay hydrated. Please be aware of your physical abilities and limitations. Bring picnic lunch and chairs to leave in you car and we can picnic afterwards.
