Chimney Rock State Park and walk intermediate trail

Park is now open but check back as maybe more details later..... As of this time you have to circle around and go east and come in through the Lake Lure road . Maybe the direct east roads will be open by the time of our visit. Meet 10:00 AM outside at parking lot .Look for RFAR signs... It is a 3 mile winding road 15 mph drive after you enter the park to the parking lot area. . Please allow sufficient time to travel safely. Tickets $17 day or $32 for annual pass. Tour on your own . Elevator only holds 7 at a time. After elevator 44 steps to reach the top. Other stairs/trails to reach other lookouts. I suggest bring picnic lunch to leave in your car , .Afterwards we can walk 1.4 mile RT Hickory Nut an intermediate trail. Also other trails you can do. May eyeball Dimmer-Watts Nature Trails and/ or Rumbling Bald Loop Trail if time and energy allow. This is just a chance to get a taste of it and you can return another day to spend more time..
