Reclaim The Frame: The Taste of Mango + Director Q+A
Details
Join Reclaim The Frame for this special screening of The Taste of Mango at Cameo Picturehouse, followed by live Q&A with director Chloe Abrahams. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a thought-provoking film and conversation with fellow cinema lovers!
In her debut feature documentary, a cinematic love letter spanning time and generations, Chloe Abrahams probes at raw questions her mother and grandmother have long brushed aside, untangling painful knots in her family’s unspoken past.
The Taste of Mango centres three extraordinary women: the director’s mother, Rozana; her grandmother, Jean; and Abrahams herself. Their intertwined stories testify to the ever-changing nature of inheritance and the ways in which we both hurt and protect the ones we love.
A vital look at the far-reaching effects of male violence and a personal meditation on family, memory, identity, solidarity, joy, and love, The Taste of Mango won both a BIFA for Best Debut Director and the Best Documentary Audience Award at BFI London Film Festival.
