## RecSys IL Meetup #4

iRecSys23 - Talks by Israeli researchers accepted to RecSys23 conference

RecSys is a leading international annual conference in the field of recommender systems. This year RecSys23 will take place in Singapour late September. There are a few Israeli researchers whose works were accepted and will be presented there. We decided to organize our next meetup and give them a stage to present the research to the local community before their trip to the main conference.

We are grateful to eBay for their community sponsorship and to ZipRecruiter for hosting this event.

Talks are in English.

Speakers:

Natalia Silberstein: Senior data scientist and team leader in the Recommendations group at Outbrain. Her responsibilities involve enhancing and developing algorithms for personalized ad selection. Prior to joining Outbrain, she worked as a research scientist at Yahoo Research Haifa in the Native Ad Science group. Before that, Natalia was

part of the Mail Mining group, where she primarily worked on analyzing and modeling mail data to devise novel mail features. She holds a PhD from the CS Department of Technion. After completing her doctoral studies, she conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas, Austin, focusing on coding for distributed storage systems.

Assaf Klein: An experienced, hands on, software and algorithms R&D manager with unique multidisciplinary knowledge and proven leading skills. He has a wide experience in design and implementation of machine learning, recommender systems, NLP, data mining and optimization algorithms. He has been managing and building small-medium diverse engineering teams for over a decade and currently he is Recommendations Data Science Manager, leading a diverse group of algorithm engineers in charge of improving the key KPIs of Outbrain’s recommender system.

Sarel Duanis: Lead data scientist and machine learning researcher at Lightricks, holds a BSc degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the Hebrew University. Sarel Contributes to the vision domain recommendations, his patented research on automated video editing forms the foundation of one of Lightrick's apps.

Zohar Karnin: Principal Scientist in Amazon. His research interests are in the area of natural language and online machine learning algorithms. He is the technical lead for the science efforts of several components in Amazon search, including voice product search.

Netta Schachar: Senior data scientist in Zipecruiter’s recommendation group. Netta has over 8 years of experience in data science, specializing in supervised learning settings. She has wide experience in taking machine learning projects from the idea stage to the model in production, in areas ranging from predictive modeling through NLP, to recommendation systems. Netta holds an MSc in Statistics from Tel Aviv University.
