Welcome to Recover Now, a meetup group for individuals who are passionate about recovery and healing. Whether you are recovering from mental health challenges, trauma, or other life obstacles, and/or you are supporting others who are struggling, this group offers a safe space to connect, learn, and grow together. Join us for meetings, workshops, and social events designed to empower and inspire growth on the journey to wellness.
A little bit about me: As a peer recovery specialist, I'm on a mission to empower people along their recovery journey. I currently run the Hope For Recovery support group for those living with OCD, as well as coach others one on one with OCD and/or anxiety. I believe that by listening to others, helping others, and sharing my own personal experiences, I can strengthen my own recovery.

Come learn how to harness the power of active listening to better understand and influence people!
As a certified peer recovery specialist, I will be leading a 45 minute interactive presentation on active listening, illustrating the core concepts of active listening and teaching you how to use active listening to maximize your interactions with people. I will go through a PowerPoint as well as share audio clips during the presentation. There will be a 15 min Q&A at the end.
Free coffee and water will be provided.
This workshop is designed for peer recovery specialists, therapists, and anyone else wanting to strengthen their listening skills.
Please note: This is part one of the workshop. The other part is 2 hour role-play work shop scheduled the following Saturday where members will have a chance to try out what they learned in various role play exercises. That workshop is included with the cost of this one, but must be signed up for separately. To sign up for it, click here.
Members attending both parts of the workshop will receive a certification of completion.

- Mastering the Art of Active Listening (2 of 2)First Christian Church, Covington, VA
This is the second part of the Mastering the Art of Active listening workshop, where members will have the chance to use the skills they learned from the first presentation to role play in various active listening exercises. You must attend the first workshop in order to attend this one. To sign up for it, click here.
During this workshop, each role play exercise will consist of two people, and after each session, we will come back together as a group to discuss.
At the start of this workshop, I will do a demonstration role play in front of the group with another member, and give people a chance to ask any questions before we break into the role play sessions.
Free coffee and water will be provided as well as a small snack such as a cookie or pack of peanut butter crackers.
This workshop is designed for peer recovery specialists, therapists, and anyone else wanting to strengthen their listening skills.
