What we’re about
Do you like to write? Do you self-identify as being in recovery of any sort (from a substance, gambling, an eating disorder, sex/love addiction, trauma, debt, depression, bipolar, codependency, etc)? Our Writers in Recovery Meeting is an engaging, safe place for people to enhance their recoveries via creative writing and fellowship. In the meeting, we check-in, read a prompt, write on it, share what we’ve written, and connect with our peers.
This is not an AA meeting or a twelve-step fellowship; however, all are welcome who are interested in exploring the intersection of creative writing and recovery lifestyle. The groups are intended to be encouraging and supportive, using writing as a vehicle for self-reflection, self-expression, and human connection.
The group is completely free of cost and meets every Thursday (starting 1/7/2019) from 6:30-8:30 PM at Right Turn (440 Arsenal St in Watertown.) Enter through the main entrance on the side of the building (it says 440 Arsenal above the door). Go up the stairs, through the door and we meet in the Elvis Room (the door is labeled). Bring a journal and a writing implement. Feel free to bring any writing prompts as well!
RSVPing to this post is not necessary in order to attend, just show up! If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to message the group organizer. Look forward to seeing you there!
UPDATE: Until further notice, we are temporarily meeting only via teleconference, so until we can again arrange to meet in person in the metro west Boston area, please do both RSVP and message the group organizer to ask to be added to the teleconference group.
