Costa Rica - A Bird Lovers' Paradise with Randy Harwood. An SBBS Favorite!

Details
Please attend in person at Hermosa Kiwanis Club 2515 Valley Drive, Hermosa Beach, CA. Otherwise, join us on Zoom (RSVP to see Zoom link).
Randy Harwood has been traveling and photographing the world's wild places, animals, birds and marine life for over thirty-five years. He tries to find ways to use these images to give people a better awareness of the beauty and value of the natural world.
One of Randy’s many ventures took him to the tropical Central American country of Costa Rica. There, he explored breathtaking hiking trails, mountainous forests, lowland tropical rainforests and boating on river waterways; all to see and record nature’s bounty. Randy heard the delightful choruses of songbirds and saw the striking plumages of hummingbirds, parrots, toucans and other tropical birds. One of the prized sightings for birders is to see the beautiful and unusual looking bird, the Resplendent Quetzal. He photographed them all!
Randy’s photography has been featured in books and magazines including “National Geographic,” “Outdoor Photographer,” and more. He is passionate about nature conservancy and recording nature’s wonders. Randy has previously shared some of his other exciting adventures with SBBS including his excursion to Peru. He is always a popular speaker with our members!
Randy Harwood’s childhood passion for wildlife and nature led him to a degree in zoology at Fresno State. Later, his degree in dentistry at UCLA and operating a private practice, gave him the opportunity to share his love of nature through his photographs he displayed. Currently, Dr. Harwood is a Board member of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. He leads nature walks and monitors the endangered California Gnatcatcher and the threatened Coastal Cactus Wren for the Conservancy. Randy is a certified California Naturalist. Birds welcome! Please come prepared to clean up after your pet. Be aware that there is an active outbreak of transmissible avian illness and make wise choices accordingly.
This would be a good opportunity to get any companion pet questions answered by leading experts including The Parrot Lady (TM) (note: unforeseen circumstances may prevent her attendance; others attending are quite knowledgable and we'll refer any challenging questions).
