It's Juneteenth and Pride season, plus we're having a birthday! America officially turns 250 this year. Let's celebrate by reading trailblazing works from Black and/or queer voices. Any era, any genre, and you get to decide what book to choose.
This is a read whatever you want book club with different themes and challenges each meeting. The fun part will be discussing what we loved (or didn't love) about the various books we chose. It's also okay if you don't finish the book. This is super casual.
Pro tip: don't overthink it! You can't choose a bad book. If the title jumped out to you as having emphasis on the Black and/or queer experience, it's okay! Even if the book ends up being a disappointment, we'll love talking about it. If you truly can't decide, try anything by James Baldwin. He hits all the bases :)
