Independence Day Fireworks Celebration & Potluck

This is a joint event with Explore The Bay (ETB).

Santa Clara County isn't exactly the best place to celebrate Independence Day. Use of fireworks is prohibited! However, Mountain View will once again have a beautiful fireworks display near Shoreline Amphitheater. The last few years we have had a great turnout with over 400 people. Celebrate Independence Day in grand style by watching the fireworks and dancing the night away to the top dance hits of today and yesterday.

FORMAT
This event will be in a potluck format. Beer and wine are permitted to be consumed on the golf course as long as you are at least 50 feet from the road. We will be in the same spot as last year.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring whatever food and/or drinks that you would like to share with the group. Please note that freeloaders are removed from the group. If you show up with nothing and then have food and/or drinks brought by someone else, you will be removed from the group.

Consider bringing a blanket, towel, folding chair, to sit on. It might be wise to bring some mosquito repellent.

Please consider bringing a $5 donation in cash as we might be hiring a DJ for this event.

ATTENDANCE
You can bring adult guests, if you secure spots online for your guests. Sorry, no kids since there will be consumption of alcohol. Guests should be non-members only. Come celebrate Independence Day with your friends and/or meet some new friends.

SCHEDULE
6:00 PM - 9:50 PM - Potluck on the Golf Course
9:40 PM - 10:00 PM - Fireworks Display (approx.)
10:00 PM - 10:20 PM - Fire Department detonates all fireworks - no one can leave
11:00 - Event ends

PRO TIP
Important information: Note that once the fireworks show is over around 10 pm, the fire department won't let anyone leave the park until around 20 minutes later to ensure that all of the fireworks have been detonated for safety reasons. Therefore, just sit back and relax for another 30 minutes to an hour and you won't waste any time sitting in traffic.

PARKING
Drive past ranger's station booth. If asked where you are going (this is very unlikely), tell the ranger that you are going to Shoreline Lake Boathouse. Drive all the way back about a half mile and veer to the left when you see the signage for Michael's. There will be free parking in front of Michael's and in front of the Shoreline Links Golf Shop. Other options include parking near Costco (1000 N Rengstorff Ave, Mountain View, CA 94043) and walking about a mile. Or you can pay $30 or $40 and park in Lot E, which is where the concert goers will be parking. Please attempt to rideshare.

FINDING THE GROUP
This event is not at Shoreline Golf Links, nor is it at Michael's Restaurant. The Shoreline Golf Links address is listed only to help you find the best place to park. After parking you will need to walk about 200 yards back from the direction that you drove in from. Best to arrive at a reasonable time such as before 7:30 pm to ensure you get parking. There are over 200 parking spots, so parking won't be an issue. The coordinates posted are correct.
