Like a book club, but for code.

Come hang out with us as we dive into a mystery code snippet and sharpen our code-reading skills together. With so much code being generated these days—especially thanks to AI—being able to read and understand unfamiliar code is more important than ever. But it’s not something most of us actively practice.

We’ll walk through a short piece of code using prompts and guided discussion to help you look at it from different angles. Whether the language is one you know or something totally new, your perspective matters. In fact, fresh eyes often catch things that experts miss.

No matter where you are in your coding journey—just starting out or years in—this is a great space to practice reading code and learn how others approach it.

### 🎉 This month: We’re joining Hacktoberfest!

We’re extra excited for this session because we’ll be checking out code from a Hacktoberfest project. That means you’ll be reading real open-source code that people are actively contributing to—and maybe you’ll even feel inspired to make a contribution yourself.

What’s Hacktoberfest?
Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source, powered by DigitalOcean and friends. Every October, people around the world contribute to open-source projects, learn new things, and earn some cool swag.

It’s free to join and open to everyone, whether you're a seasoned developer or just getting started.
