Belonging Across Borders (Identity, Diaspora, and Home)
Details
Join us for our next Refined Minds gathering as we explore what it mean to belong, especially when you are associated with more than one country, culture, and language.
For many of us, "home" isn't just one place anymore. We'll reflect on what happens to our sense of belonging when our roots and our paths point in different directions.
Is living between worlds an advantage, or does it leave us always a little out of step? What do we gain—and what do we give up—when we call multiple places home?
We'll explore questions like:
- Where do you feel most at home and why?
- Can you truly belong to more than one place, or does belonging somewhere new mean letting go of somewhere old?
- Do you become a different person when you switch languages?
- Have you ever changed something about yourself—your name, your accent, a habit—to fit in?
- When does adapting become losing yourself?
- Is belonging something you discover, or something you create?
Through personal stories and open conversation, we'll dig into how identity is shaped not just by where we're from, but by where we've chosen to stay.
Whether you're part of a diaspora, fluent in multiple worlds, or have simply ever felt caught between places, this session is a space to think together about who we are, where we belong, and how we carry home with us.
