The Art You Cannot Lose
Details
We spend our lives surrounded by art — music, films, novels, paintings yet rarely stop to ask which of it we actually could not live without.
For this session, we are posing a single constraint to every member: if you could only keep two works of art from your entire life — across all art forms combined, a film, a novel, an album, a painting, a poem, anything — which two would they be?
Not the most important works. Not the most impressive. The two you personally could least afford to lose.
The constraint is the point. When everything else falls away, what remains tells you something about who you are, what you need, and what art has quietly done to you over the course of your life.
Come with your two works and share them to the other members.
We'll explore questions like:
- Name your two works and tell us why — not why they are great, but why they are yours. When did you first encounter them, what were you going through, and what have they given you that nothing else has?
- Would you have given the same answers ten years ago? If not — what changed, and what does that tell you about who you are becoming?
- After hearing everyone's choices tonight — whose answer did you find most interesting?
