About us
After living in non-Tokyo Japan for several years, I found that many social spaces revolve around small talk or language exchange - while I was looking for something more engaging, meaningful and alive.
So I created this space.
This is a small (4-6 people), guided group for fluent English speakers in and around Northern Saitama who enjoy deeper conversations, creative thinking and play, and genuine connection.
Each session combines imagination and reflection, through activities like:
- Collaborative storytelling
- Real-life scenario analysis
- Perspective-sharing exercises
- Light creative games inspired by improv
This space is:
- Interactive - everyone contributes
- Thoughtful - conversations go beyond the surface
- Creative & Expressive - imagination, expression and play are central
- Balanced - all voices are heard
Format:
- Online sessions (bi-weekly)
- In-person sessions around Kumagaya Station (bi-monthly)
Come with curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to explore ideas. No experience is needed - this space is about play, curiosity, and shared creativity.
Guidelines
To help create a relaxed, welcoming, and meaningful space for everyone, here are a few gentle guidelines:
- Be respectful and open-minded
Everyone brings different perspectives and experiences, and all are welcome here.
- Listen with attention
Try to be fully present when others are speaking.
- Share the space
Be mindful of giving everyone a chance to contribute.
- Speak from your own experience
This is a space for sharing, rather than advising or correcting others.
- Keep it inclusive and accessible
Aim to express ideas in a way that people from different backgrounds can connect with and understand.
- Stay loosely connected to the theme
Try to keep the conversation connected to the topic, while still allowing for natural flow.
- Help create a positive atmosphere
This space is not suited for heated debates or potentially divisive topics (such as politics).
If this group sounds right for you, please join and find an event that fits into your schedule. I look forward to meeting you!
