From the Welsh Marches to Ynys Mon: A Summer's Adventure in 1792
Details
We'll be following the journey of a family who in 1792 went on an "alternative" Grand Tour of North Wales. The talk is based on the original travel journals of a Shropshire woman Katherine Plymley. You'll discover how these early Welsh tourists travelled, inspired by art and literature, to explore dramatic mountain scenery and picturesque landscapes.
Wales became a fashionable destination for artists, intellectuals, writers and naturalists. Along the way, hear about 18th century culture, social manners and famous celebrities of the day!
