Learn how to develop Internet of Things devices using the ESP8266 and go home with all the tools to start developing!

The ESP8266 is an amazing little chip which has onboard WiFi capabilities, an integrated processor, and also comes at less than $10. This makes it the perfect chip for Internet of things projects.

But what is the internet of things? The defininition of the internet of things is a complex one. The basic explaination is connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet. This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of. This can even apply to parts of a larger machine, for example complex devices like jet engines or manufacuring plants have many smaller parts that benifit from being connected to the internet and talking together.

There will be over 26 billion connected devices by 2020. At reforge we want to teach you how to get started building your Own things and maybe you will have the next big million dollar idea, you just need to get started.

About the instructors
Tim Taylor is an electrical, mechanical, and product design engineer. Tim has an intuitive mind for any design and engineering problem. He works on everything from military power electronics to wearable LED designs to exploding handcuffs. He has projects featured on the Future Weapons TV Show. He has been involved with multiple startups and has a great entrepreneurial spirit. When not designing stuff for work he enjoys designing stuff for fun. It is this reason that Tim has joined forces with a others that relish the same interests as himself to create Reforge Charleston. At Reforge Charleston Tim has a great knack for teaching others and enjoys education as much as his design work.
