Crippen Regional Park, Bowen Island - Invasive Plant Removal at Davies Creek!
Details
Come help remove invasive Himalayan blackberry at Crippen Regional Park on Bowen Island!
We will be doing maintenance at a restoration site along Davies Creek. Between 2024 and 2025, this restoration site was expanded to increase the buffer zone along Davies Creek. This work included volunteers removing invasive plants and planting native plant species.
Join us as we remove re-emerging invasive Himalayan blackberry to help promote and maintain biodiversity within this valuable riparian ecosystem!
Where: Davies Creek, Crippen Regional Park, Bowen Island
What: Invasive plant removal
When: Saturday, November 29, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
We will provide you with all the information and tools needed for the work we will be doing. This includes eye protection, gloves, shovels, and pruners, although if people prefer to use their own gloves they are welcome to do so. Please arrive dressed for the weather (rain or shine), in clothing that can get dirty, with appropriate footwear. Please bring water bottles and a snack if you tend to get hungry while working. We will provide light snacks and water for refilling water bottles.
A few things to note about the site:
• The site is a 5-minute walk from the Snug Cove Ferry Terminal. There is also a free parking lot near our meeting place.
• Those taking a ferry can board the 10:35AM sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island and board the 1:55PM sailing off-island (or stay and enjoy a Saturday on Bowen Island!).
• The site is in a public area, be mindful or sharp or hazardous litter.
• There is a washroom near our meeting place. The worksite is a 2-minute walk from the washroom.
