What we’re about
Rekindle: to start or stir up something.
Re means "again," and kindle means "start a fire," likely from the Old Norse word kynda, "to light a fire."
Rekindle the Roots is for those wanting to remember their deep connection to Nature. It’s about restoring the wisdom that our diverse ancestors carried, then shifting that wisdom into something useful and practical for today’s modern world. It’s a reclamation of magic, medicine, rituals, healing practices, and folk traditions that have been safely stored within our bone memory. This group is intended to support modern homo sapiens along their journey of embodying their most rooted, authentic, Natural Self while fostering healthy community, friendships, knowledge sharing, and reciprocity.
Meetups will include classes, workshops, rituals, and healing circles taught from a shamanic perspective. There will also be community gatherings and social events to establish trust, camaraderie, and for the simple sake of having some fun together.

- Wyrd Witch 101 (Portland)The Way Home Studio, Portland, OR$15.00
Wyrd Witch 101 is an ongoing Women's Learning Circle for individuals wanting to initiate or deepen their relationship to Witchcraft. Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, you'll have the opportunity to explore, share, ask questions, experiment, play, and practice in an intimate setting with magical sisters. The 1st Friday will be held in SE Portland, while the 3rd Friday will be held in Gladstone. The intention is to create a container where all participants can express their unique gifts and delve into creating meaningful, lasting, and authentic personal practices, so that their magic may flourish and weave naturally into everyday life.
Each gathering will start off with an "emptying of baskets" where we personally express what we've been feeling lately and what our current emotional, spiritual, and mental landscape looks like. Within this sharing we witness our sisters and learn how to be of support, comfort, encouragement, and accountability to our fellow Witches . We'll then collectively pick a magical topic or two to discuss followed by some guided instruction and exploration of said topic.
We'll deep dive into practices such as: creating rituals, spellcrafting, enchanting, grounding, clearing, protection, manifesting & visioning, altar tending, divination & scrying, working with the elements, connecting with our guides and ancestors, celebrating the turning of the wheel & seasonal practices, how to work with deities, embodiment, deepening our connections with plant, animal, and nature spirits...and much, much MORE.
About Your Host: Ida is an American born, Nordic Folk Magic & Shamanic Practitioner who practices the Scandinavian magical lineage known as Trolldom. She is a well-seasoned Witch whose magic is rooted in nature based connection, animism, ancestor veneration, Nordic paganism, and Scandinavian folk traditions. Even though Ida leans heavily towards her Norse side, she has a knack for connecting others to their very own unique and diverse lineages and traditional practices. She believes that there's much to be learned within our bone memory and the powerful folk medicine that our great grandmothers used and trusted. One of her many passions is to spark other women to rekindle their roots while fully embracing their authentically Wyrd Witch. To learn more about Ida’s work, visit www.IdaCavewoman.com.

This is a popular event and if you cancel last minute, you block another woman's opportunity to attend. I also ask that you respect everyone's time and be punctual. We'll start right at 7pm and the door will be locked by 7:15pm. Please be mindful and honor these agreements. - Community Fika8437 SE Stark Str, Portland, OR
Rekindle the Roots hosts Community Fika for the sake of gathering our members together to build trust, deepen friendships, and to partake in an old tradition, still very much alive in Sweden today.
What is Fika, you ask?
Fika is a social activity, often shared with friends, family, or colleagues. It's a moment of the day when people take a break from their daily routine, sit down, relax, and enjoy a cup of black coffee with a sweet treat. Fika is a way of slowing down and enjoying the moment, a custom deeply ingrained in Swedish culture. This daily ritual, often practiced twice per day, has become a cultural phenomenon that has been part of the Swedish way of life for over two centuries.*You DO NOT need to have Swedish or Scandinavian lineage to join. ALL are welcome to come and have a taste for this wholesome tradition.
Atmosphere: This will be an informal and casual social gathering. We'll spend roughly 30 minutes to open the Fika as a group and learn a bit about one another. The remainder of the time is yours to sip coffee, relax, and meet and friend or two.
When: Saturday 9/6 from 10am-12pm

- Nordic Sauna NightIda's Cave, Gladstone, OR$39.00
Join us for Nordic Sauna Night! This event is co-ed and clothing optional, 18+. Modesty must be upheld when outside of the sauna or cold plunge area.
As the Finnish proverb states "All humans are equal, but nowhere more so than in a sauna". The sauna is a uniquely capable holding space where all of the elements come together for support (earth, air, fire & water) . Within this space, we come as we are. We come for washing, for good health, and for healing. We come to connect to ourselves, our community, and to nature.
What is a Nordic Sauna? Nordic Sauna is a process of 15 minutes in the hot sauna (170°F - 200°F) followed by either a cold water plunge or dousing which is then repeated 2-3 more times depending on tolerance. The entire process takes approximately 75 minutes to complete. A sauna whisk made of birch, oak, or eucalyptus is used to gently beat and whisk the body to encourage circulation and blood flow while offering protection and purification. (Whisks are available for purchase when in stock)
Sauna is a HUGE part of everyday Nordic culture. Fun fact: There are more saunas than cars in Finland!
What to Expect: Upon arrival you'll meet Ida in the Lobby located through the back basement door. She'll show you where to undress and tell you how to prepare. She'll then guide you and the group through the Nordic Sauna process. Once complete, you’ll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the indoor and outdoor amenities.
About the Amenities: Our sauna is located in an urban backyard within the heart of Clackamas County. The sauna itself is a 10x10ft tent style sauna with cedar benches and a wood-fired stove. The cold plunge area is an open air pergola with privacy curtains containing two claw foot tubs and a shower. There are several outdoor lounging areas great for relaxing and cooling off, including a covered gazebo. Weather and seasonally permitting, we’ll have a fire going in the fire pit for our guests to enjoy.
Located inside is a welcoming lobby with plenty of storage and hooks for your belongings. There’s a half bath adjacent to the lobby (no shower available). Beyond the lobby you’ll find “The Cave”; a cozy 150 sq ft room full of ambiance that will transport you to another place and time. The cave will be open to guests who would like to lay down to rest and/or stretch during their stay. Yoga mats and props available.
