🌳 Forest Restoration Project! ~ On-Site Surveying, Designing, and Planning ~🌳

Let’s join a project to restore an abandoned forest in Ogawamachi, Saitama—just about 1 hour from Ikebukuro, Tokyo—and turn it into a peaceful and welcoming place!
The weather should be cooler and more comfortable in the second week of September☀️
We are currently working on a sunny, elevated flat area in the forest to create a relaxing space.

In the previous event, everyone shared ideas together, and this time, we’ll bring those ideas to life by doing on-site surveying, designing, and planning.
We will also continue carrying up wood and bamboo to the site.

■ Activities on the Day
・Carry materials (wood, bamboo, and scrap lumber) up the hill
・On-site surveying, design, and planning
・Forest hiking and forest bathing

We will find tasks that suit everyone’s pace and ability.

■ Date & Location
・Meeting Point: Ogawamachi Station (Tobu Tojo Line), Saitama
・Date: Sunday, September 14
・Time: Meet at 10:00 AM / Finish around 3:30 PM
・The forest is about a 30-minute walk along a countryside path from the station.
※Please make any purchases or use the restroom before meeting.
※We cannot wait for late arrivals, so please arrive on time.

■ Example Trains Available on the Day
・You can reach Ogawamachi directly from Ikebukuro, Shibuya, Jiyugaoka, Shinjuku-sanchome, Yokohama, and more.

■ Participation Fee
・500 yen (includes insurance, light snacks, and refillable drinking water — collected in cash on-site)

■ What to Bring
・Drinks and lunch, towel, insect repellent (if you have one)

◼︎What to wear:
・Clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty
・Long sleeves and long pants are better to avoid mosquito bites, but short sleeves and shorts are also OK if you use insect repellent
・Hat
・Change of clothes (We have a room for you to change)

■ Capacity
・Around 10–15 participants
(We will send a confirmation message to those who sign up. If we don’t receive a reply at least one week before the event, you may be moved to the Wait List.)

~ About This Project ~
Over 70% of Japan’s land is covered in mountains and forests, but many have been abandoned, leading to illegal dumping and deforestation for solar panel farms.
In the past, forests were actively used for firewood, compost, and building materials, but today, imported resources, fossil fuels, and chemical fertilizers have replaced them, causing these forests to lose their value.
Since the pandemic, we have been working to restore and revitalize this forest, creating a space where people can relax, connect, and find new value in nature.
We’ve already hosted several events in this forest.

🌳森の再生プロジェクト！〜現地での測量・デザイン・設計編〜🌳

東京の池袋から約1時間、埼玉県小川町にある荒廃した森を再生し、心地よい場所を作るプロジェクトに参加しませんか？
9月に入り、気温も下がってきている時期だと思います☀️

現在、森の中の小高い日当たりの良い平地を整備し、癒しのスペース作りに取り組んでいます。
前回のイベントでみんなでアイディアを出し合いましたが、今回はそのアイディアを基に、現場で測量などしながらデザイン・設計をして具体化させて行きます。
また、今回も廃材や竹の運び上げも行う予定です。

■ この日行う内容
・資材（木材や竹・廃材）の運び上げ
・現場での測量・デザイン・設計
・森のハイキング、森林浴

専門知識がない方や、外作業に慣れていない方も大歓迎です。無理のない範囲で、それぞれができることを見つけて作業を行います。
自然や環境に興味のある方、自然の中で体を動かしたい方、新しい出会いを求めている方、どんな方でも大歓迎です！

■ 日時と場所
・埼玉県、東武東上線の小川町駅に9/14（日） 10:00集合・15:30解散
・駅から自然豊かな道を歩いて約30分のところに、私たちが管理している森があります。
・必要な物の購入やトイレは事前に済ませて集合ください。
・遅れて到着された方はお待ちできませんので、お気をつけください。

■ 当日利用可能な電車の例
・池袋、渋谷、自由が丘、新宿三丁目、横浜などから電車で一本で来られます。

■ 参加費
・500円（保険料・スナック・ボトルへの給水用の水など込み、現地で現金で集めます）

■ 持ち物
・飲み物・お昼ごはん、タオル、虫除けスプレー（あれば）

・汚れても良い服・靴（長袖長ズボンの方が蚊に刺されにくいですが、半袖半ズボンで虫除けスプレー使用でもOK）

・10〜15名程度

〜このプロジェクトについて〜
日本の国土の7割以上は山林が占めていますが、それらの多くが現代では使われなくなり、荒廃が進んでいます。
放置された山は人が入れなくなり、産業廃棄物やゴミが不法投棄されたり、ソーラーパネル業者に買い取られて全面伐採されたりすることも少なくありません。
かつては、薪や堆肥、建築材として活用されていた山も、現代では化石燃料、化学肥料、輸入材に置き換えられ、利用価値を失いつつあります。

私たちは、コロナ禍以降、この森の整備を少しずつ進めてきました。
この森を、今の時代に合わせた形で新たな価値を提供できる場所として再生し、持続可能な形で活用し、維持していきたいと考えています。
現代社会のストレスからの癒しや、人との交流が生まれる森にしていきたいと思っています。
