Details

Divisive politicians. Hateful pundits. Angry campus activists. Twitter trolls. We are living in a "culture of contempt" where we are developing the habit of seeing people who disagree with us not as merely incorrect, but as ignorant and worthless. Yet the Apostle Paul makes the extraordinary claim that "the whole law is fulfilled in one word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'” (Galatians 5:14)

Civility and tolerance shouldn't be our goals, because they are hopelessly low standards. Rather, we'll explore a biblical road map to find the happiness that comes when we choose to love one another despite our differences.

Join us this Thursday as our ROC small group continues our new discussion series, Love Your Enemies: The Struggle Against the Pandemic of Contempt

The format at our get-togethers is very relaxed and conversational. Each Thursday we will explore a topic, then answer questions together to both understand and apply what we are learning:

  • 7:00 PM: In-person and welcome
  • 7:10 PM: Discussion
  • 7:50 PM: Share 'n Prayer (men & women subgroups)
  • 8:15 PM: Announcements and end

Come as you are--there's nothing for you to prepare each week, and you can participate at whatever level you feel comfortable.

Each session is independent so you can choose to come to one or many of the sessions below:

  • Thursday, April 24: Tell Me a Story
  • Thursday, May 1: Five Rules to Subvert the Culture of Contempt
