April Remix Meetup

Come join us at the H-E-B Digital & Favor Eastside Tech Hub for our April Remix Meetup!

Via 313 and drinks will be provided 🍕🥤. There will be an online option as well 💻—the Zoom link will be available to those who RSVP.

Our sponsor this month is Randstad Technologies 🙏 More about them during the meetup!

Remix is a full stack web framework that lets you focus on the user interface and work back through web standards to deliver a fast, slick, and resilient user experience. People are gonna love using your stuff.

⚠️ Note for online attendants ⚠️
At ~5:30 CST I will switch this event to an online event; this allows me to provide a Zoom link to RSVP'd participants. The Zoom itself won't have much activity until ~6:30 CST, when the talks starts.

If you'd like to submit a talk for this meetup or a future one, please fill out this form or reach out to Brooks directly on Discord or Twitter

Talks

Building a 2FA Wizard in Remix - Will King
In this talk we will build a 2FA wizard dive a little deeper than just the technical "how to" bits and bobs
1. How to think through what we are building, and more importantly what we are not building from engineering and product perspectives.
2. Show how good data and Remix make building systems a breeze.
3. Explore supporting features you will need when implementing this for production.

Will King is a senior frontend engineer at Crunchy Data where his job is to help build the best Postgres experience on the web. For him that made it a no brainer moving to Remix to run their app.

Caching basics with Remix - Colby M. White
In this talk, Colby is going give a run through of the Cache-Control header and how Remix compares to other frameworks in given you control over it

Colby is a true full-stack engineer, focusing on whatever programming language or tool will get the job done. He believes the best software engineers are the ones who resist becoming "code monkeys" and prioritize building the right thing. Checkout Colby's website to learn more!

If you are interested in giving a talk at one of our meetups, please fill out this form 😊

Venue Instructions

You are welcome to park in the guest spaces on the West side of the building or in our back lot. Please enter the building through the front (on E 6th) in order to check in with Security. You will need to sign your name on a sign-in sheet on arrival. We will be cross checking your name with the Meetup RSVP list, so please RSVP if you are coming.

The meetup will be in a room called the Arsenal. It's a large room down the hall to the right. The property manager has asked us to stay in the Arsenal unless using the restrooms 🙂

Bring your laptop and curiosity as we talk all things Remix!
