Remote Product #10: Remote product discovery and aligning the vision

Webinar with Tim Herbig, Product Consultant and Sarah Waldner, Senior Product Manager at Gitlab In this webinar, Tim will discuss the following: Product Discovery can be a challenge even if everybody is in the same office. So, how do things have to change, once you work as a fully distributed team? In this talk, I will share what I have seen work (and not work) when trying to work through the problem and solution space without losing structure. In this webinar, Sarah will discuss the following: Your number one job as a Product Manager is to influence. Once you identified the most lucrative problem to solve for your customers, you need to sell this plan to your business stakeholders for buy-in and to your development team to inspire them. But how do you achieve this if you work remote and your stakeholders and team are globally distributed? This is a challenging task even if you get regular face-time with all of these constituents! Sarah has spent the last year and a half becoming an expert in selling her product visions asynchronously. To effectively influence a fully-remote 1000+ person company spread out between 66 different countries, she has had to develop skills and workflows that allow her stakeholders to consume and to give feedback on ideas with minimal meetings. In this session, Sarah will discuss her top 5 tips for inspiring a fully remote audience and getting buy-in on your product vision. Background on our speakers: Tim Herbig Tim is an experienced Product Leader who has worked on a broad range of b2c and b2b products throughout the years. By putting the people on his teams first, he not only learned what it takes to build a great product but also how to form teams which love to work together. His work is influenced by the belief in a set of core principles around how to build successful teams and products. It is his mission to enable organizations to help product teams become the best version of themselves. He's convinced that true self-organization of cross-functional teams can only be built upon trust and given autonomy to democratize as many processes as possible around building products and organizations. https://herbig.co/ https://de.linkedin.com/in/herbigt Sarah Waldner I began my career as a Chemical Engineer in Oil & Gas, building underwater infrastructure for offshore rigs. Craving more creativity and innovation in my day-to-day work, I made the transition to technology by teaching myself to code. My path from software development into Product Management happened organically. While I loved building the software, I found myself more intrigued by the processes and methodologies involved in identifying and solving complex user problems. Since changing trajectories into Product, I have spent the last few years building incident management software for DevOps teams. https://about.gitlab.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/swaldner/
