What we’re about
Welcome to the Northshore Chess Club! Join us on certain Saturdays from 1-4PM with 2 events: Every other weekend it’s “Saturday Chess at Starbucks” at the Lake Forest Starbucks (672 N Western Ave, Lake Forest), and an occasional "Saturday Chess at Lake Forest Rec Center" (next to Deerpath Middle School, 400 Hastings Road, LF, meet in the café area). Please RSVP, come play, and learn a thing or two to improve your chess! We will have competition-style chess sets, but bring yours just in case. All ages welcome!
If you are a beginner make sure you review all the rules of chess (like En Passant) before you come. There’s a PDF on https://www.chesshouse.com/pages/chess-learning-resources (scroll down for the PDF). We usually play without time clocks, because the “long game” improves your chess! Note: we have only 12 spots per event, so if you can’t come please cancel your RSVP to allow someone else to come.
