SUPER SUNDAY Eagle Valley Float (Carson River by Carson City)
Details
Not a Football fan? Well, I am, but I'm a bigger fan of boating.
The Carson River is low, about 250 cfs but high enough to float the flatwater section on the edge of town through Eagle Valley. February 8th, SUPER SUNDAY, meet at 1:00 pm at the TAKE OUT which is the boat ramp on Morgan Mill Road. From Reno, take the exit on to highway 50 east, then right on Deer Run Road on the edge of town (if you start going uphill you went too far), 1/4 mile then take a right on Morgan Mill road, then 1/4 mile to the boat ramp. We will play musical cars/boats then make the short drive to the put in. About a 4.5 mile semi-rural flatwater float, a few fast riffles, maybe a beaver dam (if we are lucky). The lack of leaves will give us better views of the mountains.
This trip is suitable for canoes, kayaks, inflatables. At this low water level paddleboards with skegs may hang up in the shallows. Flip it over and ride it upside down!
About a 2-2.5 hour long float. If your luck is good and you time it right you can miss the entire halftime show but still be home for the second half.
The forecast is for temperatures in the low 60’s. Could change, so be prepared. Check in on this website Sunday morning for any last minute changes. It is still February. If you are attending, please respond by hitting ATTEND. If no one responds I may cancel it (need at least one for the shuttle)
