Winnemucca Lake Snowshoe

Get to know this 5.0-mile out-and-back trail near Kirkwood, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 plus hours to complete. This is a very popular area for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.

For those of you who might be interested in car pooling up to Winnemucca Lake, we'll DEPART AT 7:30 from the Park N Ride on the south side of the Summit Mall. If you are not interested in carpooling, show up at the Park n Ride and we can caravan up the hill. If you have a question on where we are meeting, please send me an message on Meetup.

For this hike, each vehicle will need to purchase a California SNO-PARK permit. Ride sharing is highly recommended, 1: to cut down on the number of cars, 2: so that not every one is having to purchase a permit. If you think that you’ll be carpooling, please give the person that you’re carpooling with a couple of bucks to help cover the cost if the permit.

Bring water and something to snack on.

Dogs need to be on a leash and picked up after. If the dog can demonstrate that it is under total voice control of the owner, then the leash can be removed at the discretion of the trip Organizer.
