Round Lake Traverse - Overnight
Details
One of my favorite trips, relatively easy with outstanding views! Honestly, it's mostly downhill.......If you attended the snow camp class earlier in the season, this is a great follow-up event.
This scenic intermediate overnight tour beginning at Carson Pass traverses north through open terrain before entering forests which lead to stunning Round Lake. The lake, which is nestled under the imposing Dardanelles Cliffs offers a unique campsite that is situated on a narrow peninsula that juts out into the lake. The following day we traverse over a 200' intervening ridge that separates the Round Lake and Big Meadow drainages, then descend to Big Meadow and down to Hwy 89 and shuttle vehicles.
The route is apprx. 8 miles total with 200' of gain each day. Snowshoes, ski's or split boards, whatever works for ya.
This is a shuttle event with vehicles left at the Meiss Meadows Sno-Park near Carson Pass and Big Meadows lot on Hwy 89. This event, like all others, is subject to conducive weather conditions. Also, all participants will need to sign off on the RTA waiver.
