Start & End: Parking lot of the Bowers Mansion Regional Park in Washoe County
Ride Leader: Gail Betz
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44557181
26.2 miles and 1382 elevation (w/option to add 1.3 miles + 300 ft elevation). Paper route maps will be available at the start of the ride

Join us for this fun ride from Bowers Mansion south through stunning Franktown Rd, then the challenging ascent up Lakeview Drive, to the fun ride down Coombs Canyon into the Carson City area (remember what you ride down you must ride up on the way back, so enjoy it!). We will cruise the V&T Bike/Rail Trail to Lakeview Drive where we loop through some residential streets off Lakeview Drive. We will meander through Carson City to just about mile 13 where we stop at the LA Bakery for coffee & whatever scrumptious treat from their incredible selection suits your fancy. On our return, we retrace part of our path through Carson City, then explore a different charming residential neighborhood before we return to the V&T Bike/Rail Trail and head to Coombs Canyon where we will experience the joy (and perhaps the pain) of climbing up this hill that we so loved riding down. (You get a feather in your cap in this club for riding up this hill-- everyone knows & respects the challenge it presents). We head back retracing our route until you can take US 395 ALT or add 1.3 miles & 300 ft elevation by taking Franktown Rd back before returning to the US 395 ALT to Bowers Mansion Park parking lot.

E-BIKE NOTE: The ride leader is unable to handle e-bike mechanical issues (battery failure, flat tires, etc.). Please have a backup plan for these events. Class 2 E-bikes are not permitted as they are not covered by club insurance.

NOTE: Check the Meetup posting 2 hours before ride time for weather-related and other changes. Helmets are required. Bikes should be in good working order. For the safety of all riders, please don't use earbuds, headphones, or music players as they can interfere with riders' ability to hear safety warnings (e.g. "Car back"). It is recommended you wear bright colors so drivers can see you. Our ride leaders may offer help with bicycle mechanical issues but are not bike mechanics. Be sure your bike has been checked by a proper mechanic before your ride. Bring tire-changing tools, a spare tube & pump (or CO2 cartridge set) and you should know how to change a tire & care for your bike.

BECOME A MEMBER: Your membership on Meetup is not a membership in the Procrastinating Pedalers Bike Club. To enjoy the full benefits of the Club, you must join the Club ($35 single member & $60 Joint). Some of the benefits are: Insurance on all rides (insurance provided for the first ride only for non-members), summer picnic, winter holiday party, special members-only events (like the taco truck lunch & breakfast rides) & local bike shop discounts. The Club also supports Bicycle Advocacy. Go to https://pedalers.org/membership to join.

CYCLING ETIQUETTE: Remember to stay to the far right of the road unless passing & then only pass on the left but before you do, be sure to call out "On your left" before passing. Avoid riding in the "blind spot" on either side of other riders. Be sure to keep enough distance between you and the rider in front of you. Review our Ride Etiquette Sheet from the club's website
