Virginia City, Carson City, and Franktown ride

Details

This is the classic "Baby Lemond" loop. We will begin at RC Willey's and do the Geiger climb first to keep things cool during that climb.

We typically regroup at the top of Geiger and can refill water and visit bathrooms at the little visitors area right at the start of Virginia City.

We then descend the Truck Route from Virginia City, a really fine descent and continue out to Hwy 50. We take Hwy 50 (which has a nice wide shoulder) for 4 miles turning onto back roads to wind our way to the LA Bakery at mile 35 for a rest and snack. Then we continue over to Combs Canyon and climb over the ridge to old 395 which we take to Franktown. After Franktown road we continue on Old 395 to the intersection of Veterans and Old 395. Since there is construction on the traffic circle there are 3 options. 1, if traffic seems moderate and the circle isnt busy we can pass through it. 2. we can divert to the sidwalk around the traffic circle, which has cycle ramps and follow Geiger half a mile to Equestrian or 3. Take the old Virginia Bike path and Old Virginia to Damonte Ranch and follow that back to Willey's.
