Ebbetts Pass and optional Lake Alpine from Markleeville

Details

The Weather is becoming cooler and it won't be a whole lot longer before rides up mountain passes won't be possible so we probably ought to do this one now.

This ride starts in Markleeville near the Chamber of Commerce which is across from the gas station right as you reach Markleeville. Markleeville isn't real big its only 210 people. It is 18 miles from Markleeville to the top of Ebbetts Pass and I expect the majority of people will find this enough for them, that's OK, continuing to Lake Alpine is nice but the full ride to Lake Alpine is pretty rigorous. Beyond Ebbetts pass is a 5 mile descent and a climb called Pacific Grade which is relatively short but has some very steep parts. There is a lodge at Lake Alpine which has a restaurant and a store and is a good refueling spot.
