Blue Lakes, Luther, Carson
Details
This ride begins at the bottom of Blue Lakes Road where you can find parking at the edge of the road.
Blue Lakes Road is 8 miles west of Woodfords on Hwy 88.
So about the same as starting in Markleeville.
The advantage of this ride is that it is entirely at or above 7000 ft, do despite the August Temperatures it should be much cooler than we experienced in Colfax.
It is possible to get another pass by descending down the back side of Luther Pass for 5-6 miles.
We do 3 passes on the cheap effectively, Luther, Carson and Blue Lakes.
The ride could start in Woodfords but the section of Hwy 88 between
Woodfords and Luther pass has a bike lane that entirely disappears
at some points. This ride avoids those sections.
