Mosquito Ridge Road
Details
This is a glorious and scenic and challenging ride that is about 95% in a national forest. This ride begins in Foresthill California just East of the intersection of Mosquito Ridge Road and Foresthill Road. There is a small side road there with space to park and a restaurant and a forest service office. Take exit 121 off of I80.
About 96% of the ride is inside a national forest. It is a climbing ride but others who have done it with me both described it as "epic"
(Warren and Peter H went with me) The grades are not steep mostly 4-6% and the scenery is great.

Rating: B, 69.5 miles, 8996 feet of elevation gain
I did make the mistake the first time I did this one of doing it in early July.
Too Hot.
The first several miles are downhill. You reach a river and then start climbing upwards. The views are spectacular. The following link is where I first found out about this ride. I've done it twice since the fire and the fire has created some burned trees but has not destroyed the scenic nature of the ride.
