So I seldom do this trip BUT it is one of my favorites. Finding Pyramid Lake with good conditions is always nice. So this takes special tasks. First is to meet at the Marina's Office for a parking permit. That is $22 per car so in the past we tried to merge into fewer cars. There is NO FEE for kayaks. Once we have merged and gotten permits we will drive north on the west side till the dirt road start then continue for several miles till past a ranch and even further. Scan the shoreline looking for two kinda yellow rock areas with the Needles in the beyond view. When you are parallel to the rocks carefully drive down to just north of the rocks. Pyramid is notorious for getting vehicles stuck in sand. Park and we will then paddle towards the Needles. The area is closed but being on the water is allowed. Several unique islands, a geyser, unique rock formations. Bring a lunch and drinks and of course dress for conditions. Temps in the mid 40's and light winds. Even some history!!
