Have a listen here

Most (all?) of us are meeting for dinner beforehand at 6:30 in Shahi Tandoori, 200 Enmore Rd.

The gig venue itself is secret. Somewhere in Camperdown. You will be told the exact location when you RSVP. It is BYO alcohol.

No cover charge (there is a jar for cash donations but I prefer to instead buy the artist's music from BandCamp),

Cross’s music is inspired by the 1960s and 1970s mainstays of American and British acoustic guitar (John Fahey, Roy Harper, Leo Kottke, Elizabeth Cotton, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch) but he is consciously forging his own musical identity within an Australian landscape.

Cross has been creating music for the last 25 years, from Gerling to Jep and Dep, and has written songs with musicians from Kool Keith to Kylie Minogue. He’s played shows with the Beastie Boys, Beck, Happy Mondays, Johnny Marr, Courtney Barnett, Ryley Walker, Smog, Will Oldham and more recently with Ed Kuepper and Jim White, Mess-esque, Marisa Anderson, Lost Ragas, The Apartments and Jamie Hutchings.

In 2023 he completed a 2-month tour of France, Germany and the Netherlands, his fourth tour of Europe. He has also performed this year with Ed Kuepper at City Recital Hall, will be doing shows with Xylouris White, and played a 40 minute improv set at the Art Gallery Of NSW as part of the inaugural Volume festival.
Cross is fiercely independent, totally devoted, loves telling a story and is always threatening to conjure up something magical with the guitar. A requirement of tonight's evening is that Darren performs both "Tom Ugly's Bridge" and "Stolen Police Car Down The Great Western Highway".
