    Dear Nasir,

CAMPAIGN UPDATE: August 4, 2010

Berntsen Tours New York State hit the road to send Chuck packing.  During his first statewide tour, Gary spent nine days traveling throughout New York delivering his message to thousands of voters, civic associations, political organizations and county fairs.

Garys tour was launched at a lively rally on Long Island attended by hundreds of supporters. The campaign received wide attention by supporters, voters and the media around the state. Click below to see some of the press coverage.

Berntsen Outlines Plans for Statewide Campaign; Asks for Your Help

Gary Berntsen is asking concerned citizens and Tea Party groups to help out in the campaign."We plan to open 40 campaign offices around New York State," Gary said as he prepared to head off to Washington DC for talks with political leaders there.

Gary is asking you and other volunteer groups to help get the word out. Anyone who can find office space that can be shared or contributed to the campaign is urged to contact Stephen Flanagan at Berntsen headquarters [masked]) to work out the details.

Plans are underway to wage a grassroots fight to reach every New York state voter in the next 90 days. "New York is a big state", Gary said, "so we need all the support we can get. We need to set up phone banks, offices where volunteers can work together and networks to distribute our campaign materials."

Please reply to this email if you can help out. Also please forward this email to any person or group that might want to join the campaign.

Berntsen Back from Washington

Gary Berntsen, along with campaign director Stephen Flanagan and finance consultant Dina Beaumont, spent two days in Washington DC last week seeking political and financial support. Most were impressed with Gary's experience in foreign affairs and his steadfast conservative values relative to economic and other domestic issues.

Gary's support among Tea Party activists was well-received as Gary explained his campaign's "ground-game" that includes support from dozens of activists around the state.

Among the leaders Gary met with include:

  • Rep. Michele Bachmann
  • Michael Steele, Republican National Committee Chairman
  • US Senator John Barrasso
  • US Senator Jim Bunning
  • US Senator Richard Burr
  • Staff of US Senator Saxby Chambliss
  • Staff of US Senator Judd Gregg
  • Staff of US Senator Richard Luger
  • US Senator Roger Wicker
  • Rep. Christopher Lee
  • Rep. Peter King
  • Jason Ouimet, National Rifle Association Federal Liaison
  • Fred Peterson, President, Gathering of Eagles
  • Scott Wheeler, National Republican Trust PAC

Rep. Bachmann expressed her willingness to "do whatever you ask" to help Gary become the next Senator from the state of New York. Others pledged support both political and financial support.

Gary also ran into many acquaintances who knew him from his days in the CIA. Gary has consulted with many Congressional leaders, Political Action Committees and Associations over the years.

Also interesting was Gary's chance meeting with members of the Israeli Knesset who were in Washington because of their concerns over the Obama administration's lack of support for the State of Israel.

While in Washington, Gary managed to conduct 3 press interviews and an appearance on CNN to discuss last week's leak of classified documents regarding the War in Afghanistan. Audio Tape of Chuck Schumer

Listen to this short segment on the Glenn Beck show to see how he wants to change Senate rules to get his own agenda passed in Congress.

Until next time,

Stephen Flanagan, Campaign Consultant
